Building a Daily Habit of Saying the Tikkun
Small and Steady Beats Big and Occasional
The secret of perseverance is not the great enthusiasm of a single day, but the quiet consistency of every day. It is better to say the Tikkun HaKlali every morning, even quickly, than to wait for the "perfect day" that does not always come.
Choose a fixed time — after the morning prayer, on the way to work, or before sleep — and make it your anchor. Once the saying becomes part of your routine, it no longer requires a fresh decision each time.
Do Not Break Over a Slip
Anyone who has built a habit knows: there will be days you miss. That is not failure — it is part of the path. What matters is not letting one missed day become a missed week. Return the very next day, without guilt, and continue from where you stopped.
Rebbe Nachman taught that one must never despair. Every fresh start is itself a victory. Mark the days you said it, watch the chain grow, and let the sense of progress carry you forward.
In time you will find that the Tikkun HaKlali no longer feels like a task, but like a daily meeting you look forward to.
